May 2024: Iowa wine trail weekends
To celebrate Iowa Wine Month during the month of May, we created five wine trails to sip and support local! Each Weekend Wine Trail ticket holder will get a FREE Wine Tasting at each winery on this trail plus an added special/discount at each location.

Northwest Iowa Weekend Wine Trail: Trail #1
Through the fields of farmland east of Sioux City sits Oscar Carl Vineyard. The winery was brought to life by two high school sweethearts. There, you’ll fall in love with their flavorful Iowa made wine.
Rustic River Winery is a small, beautiful winery just outside of Lake View, where customers quickly become friends while enjoying their quality wines. Your adventure carries on with a fun twist full of good laughs when you stop to sip on wines from Jim and Sue at Sweet Honeymoon Winery.
North of Fort Dodge sits Soldier Creek Winery. Two-time Iowa Winemaker of the Year, Anne Zwink (2018, 2023) brings together her award-winning wines with a fun atmosphere right on their family farm.
South Central Iowa Weekend Wine Trail: Trail #2
Iowa-Wine Enthusiast must visit the wineries around Des Moines. North of the city, just one gravel mile from the High Trestle Trail, sits The Cellar Winery which is never short on entertainment (former home of Snus Hill Winery). A trip into Des Moines will take you to Jasper Winery where you can sample an array of innovative wines including their canned wines and bourbon aged wines. Driving south into the rolling hills takes you to Covered Bridges Winery. Ask about the story behind their wine: Rattlesnake Red. Follow the road out of Winterset to Madison County Winery sitting in a picturesque manner on a hillside just outside of St. Charles. A staple in the Iowa Wine industry, there you can also enjoy beers from Twisted Vine and Big Rack Brew House. Nearwood Winery & Vineyard is situated on seven acres of rolling hills two miles south of Knoxville. Sip wine made with their grapes from their vineyard and enjoy a view of skydivers from the patio.
Central Iowa Weekend Wine Trail: Trail #3
Build memories and enjoy the great wines at Fireside Winery, outside of Marengo. There, you’ll have the chance to sip on an Iowa Wine Flight or FireCiders Flight. The same fun carries over to their second location in the Amanas, Fireside in the Village, where you will enjoy a sparkling wine flight with OJ to make your own sample mimosa. Next door is Ackerman Winery, Iowa’s Oldest Winery, offering Wine Trail Weekenders a Classic Amana Flight or a FireCiders Flight.
Nationally recognized for their craft spirits, Cedar Ridge Winery also creates an amazing variety of house, estate, and premier wines and delicious food.
Glyn Mawr Winery, otherwise known as The Local in the historical downtown of Mount Vernon, is a place where Iowa-made wine, customers, and economy all come together in a wonderful atmosphere. Travel on to Tipton where a 19th century mansion is now home to Buchanan House Winery who offers a variety of red, white, fruit, & sparkling wines.
Northeast Iowa Weekend WineTrail: Trail #4
Through the vast farmland, limestone bluffs, and beautiful rivers are the wineries of North East Iowa. Visit the personal feel at each one of these family-based wineries. Frisky Fox Winery is located on the family farm just outside of Riceville and offers an array of amazing wines.
Winneshiek Wildberry Winery is a beautiful country winery with twenty two acres of grapevines and two acres of rhubarb just outside of Decorah.
A stop in Marquette, Iowa can’t be complete without a visit to Eagles Landing Winery which continues to offer award winning wines plus now, food.
Get transformed into a world of its own at PromiseLand Winery on the scenic byway.
Near Sherrill is Bishop Winery, a hidden gem who has a wine for everyone
On a hillside outside of Dubuque is Park Farm Winery known for producing quality wines made only from Midwest grapes.
O So Good Winery, in Dyersville, is one of the state’s newer wineries and offers great wines with fun labels for any occasion.
Southeast Iowa Weekend Wine Trail: Trail #5
The three Wide River Locations set the theme of this trail. Good times. Great Wines. At the Wide River Winery Clinton location, take the climb to the top of the bluff where you will pair their Jury Duty or Felony Red wines with a tasty cheese melt.
At the Wide River LeClaire Tasting Room, enjoy their Pursuit of Happiness Wines with their house made Chocolate Torte. The Wide River Village of East Davenport will treat you with their Not Guilty wine paired with their Honey Walnut Bar.
Visit TYCOGA Winery & Distillery, a place of elegance with a quiet country feel. They offer over twenty types of wines plus mixed drinks made with their own Vodka, Whiskey, & Gin.
Olathea Creek Winery is one of the state's newest wineries, but you wouldn’t know it by their quality wines. Once a campsite for the Saux and Fox tribes, ‘Olethe’ in Fox means beautiful, and that’s exactly what this winery is.
